JOB SUMMARY

We have the following opportunity available in our
San Francisco, CA Office:

Trial Attorney - Workers' Compensation

This self-starter will represent the company and insureds in all phases of litigation, practicing law in compliance with ethical standards as established by state law. Responsibilities include providing legal analysis and advice, preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents, performing legal research, preparing for and conducting pre-trial discovery, preparing for and conducting administrative and judicial hearings, civil jury trials and post-trial activities. Under limited direction, works within broad limits and authority on highly complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge in Workers' Compensation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

JD or LLB required

Bachelors Degree required

Member in good standing of California State Bar

8 or more years civil litigation experience

5 or more years of Workers' Compensation experience in current and/or last job.

Commercial Insurance Defense experience

Commitment to high quality legal work

Must be well organized with good analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Customer focus and client relation skills required

Self-starter with proven experience as a member of a litigation 'team'

PC literate with keyboard skills, experience with word processing and email programs and significant knowledge/experience with Lexis or Westlaw

Understands the staff legal function and role in overall business

Demonstrated case analysis ability and a record of accomplishment of proven settlement skills a must

Ability to budget costs and calculate exposure, has knowledge of billable and diary review with substantive and procedural legal knowledge

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

General Liability experience

Certified Specialists in Workers' Compensation Law
