Position: Business Development Manager Firm Wide
Reports To: Marketing Committee
The Business Development Manager is responsible for translating goals and strategies of this multi-office law firm into action and will direct the firms overall marketing and strategic planning programs and corporate communications. The role primarily focuses on identifying new business and shaping proactive implementation strategies, enhancing current client relationships with a focused approach to developing and executing pitches, presentations and responses to RFPs, client relationships and events.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1) Design, implement and facilitate annual marketing plan for the firm. Support and facilitate development and implementation of section business/marketing plans. Excellent writing, editing and exemplary attention to detail.
2) Plan and administer the firm's Marketing Operations Budget, support development of regional marketing budgets.
3) Oversee the Charitable Contributions Foundation.
4) Organize and implement client relations including:
a) Client satisfaction surveys
b) Client development activities
c) Client Skills Training
d) Special Events
5) Supervise firm's RFP protocol process including soliciting RFPs from desirable prospective clients and writing proposals for new business; participate in planning and presentation sessions, when assigned.
6) Oversee business development activities, including assisting attorneys in strategic planning for client presentations, offering coaching for prospective client meetings presentations and working with other offices on designing and implementing prospective and client contact systems.
7) Oversee corporate communications activities.
8) Oversee firm's electronic marketing efforts including supervision of Web site design and maintenance.
9) Work directly with Project Manager.
10) Some travel required.
Education:
College degree required with a concentration in Marketing, Business or Communications preferred.
Required Skills:
Must be a self-starter, highly organized and able to work well with attorneys at all levels in the organization. Polished presentation and interpersonal skills. Needs good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications.
Experience:
At least three years in a business development or marketing director role within professional services environment, preferably multi-office. Strong leadership and consensus building skills; marketing management and strategic planning experience; a proven track record in developing and administering a marketing program.
